The composite resin material we use in our tooth-colored fillings withstand the pressures of biting and chewing just as well as their silver amalgam counterparts and should last every bit as long - if not longer.
More stable when exposed to extreme hot and cold temperatures: When silver amalgam and other metal fillings are exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures, they expand and contract. This can cause them to fracture or even become dislodged. While tooth-colored fillings will also expand and contract when exposed to extreme hot and cold, they do so to lesser degrees and are therefore much less likely to fracture or become dislodged.
Free from mercury: The composite resin used in tooth-colored fillings is completely mercury free.
